What Makes Sagamore South Beach an Art-Inspired Hotel
Discover South Beach's Most Iconic Art Hotel
Long before boutique hotels made art part of their brand, The Sagamore South Beach was already living it. Known as Miami's original Art Hotel, this family owned oceanfront property has been a lavish South Beach destination since the days of Art Deco, and today it stands as one of the most culturally rich hotels in the country. With curated exhibits, sculpture gardens, hand painted murals and an ever evolving collection of contemporary artwork, Sagamore South Beach is not just a place to stay, it is a place to experience.
A Prime Location at the Crossroads of South Beach
Great art deserves a great setting, and The Sagamore's location delivers exactly that. Situated directly on the sand at the crossroads of Lincoln Road and Collins Avenue, the hotel places guests within walking distance of some of Miami Beach's most iconic destinations. Lincoln Road Mall, with its open air shopping, dining and people watching, sits just steps from our front door. The Miami Beach Convention Center is equally close, making The Sagamore an ideal home base for guests attending conferences, trade shows or the many cultural events hosted throughout the year.
This central address also puts guests near the heart of Miami's world renowned art scene. During Art Basel Miami Beach, the city transforms into a global gathering point for collectors, artists and enthusiasts, and The Sagamore sits right in the middle of it all. Beyond art week, guests can easily explore the Art Deco Historic District, the Bass Museum of Art, and the vibrant restaurant and nightlife scene that lines Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue. Be here for a few days or an extended stay, the location alone makes The Sagamore one of the most convenient and inspiring places to stay in South Beach.
A Hotel Built Around Art
What truly sets The Sagamore apart, however, is its long standing commitment to art itself. Through the hotel's signature platform, #SagamoreIsArt, the property has become a cultural centerpiece offering curated and immersive art experiences for everyone, from serious collectors to first time visitors who simply want to explore something new. Every piece on display is available for public viewing around the clock, and admission is completely free, making The Sagamore one of the only places where world class art is easily accessible.
Over the years, the hotel's art program has grown into something remarkable. The Sagamore has presented sixteen curated exhibits, hosted TWENTY FOUR editions of the Annual Art Basel Brunch, unveiled over thirty murals, on our 14 walls. Sagamore Walls murals, and produced four editions of the Sagamore Sculpture Garden. More than 1,500 artworks and over 230 artists have been featured on property, generating over one billion media impressions along the way.
The Sagamore's partnership with BitBasel brings its art program to life through a dynamic collection and rotating cultural experiences. BitBasel curates the hotel's art collection and creates opportunities for guests to engage with the work through rotating exhibitions, artist talks, guided tours of the collection, exclusive art events, and other immersive cultural experiences.
The property's current collection includes sculptures displayed throughout the hotel, including Golden Victory, a Nike Goddess sculpture by Tran$parent, as well as Elephant and Gorilla sculptures by artist Idriss B. Together, these works add to the hotel's distinctive artistic atmosphere and offer guests new ways to experience contemporary art throughout the property.
The Sagamore Walls carry on the hotel's long tradition of street art, with larger than life murals painted by internationally acclaimed muralists. Each mural tells its own story, transforming the hotel's walls into an open canvas that welcomes guests from the moment they arrive. New works are unveiled each year during Art Basel and remain on display until the following season.
Inside the hotel, the Staircase Project offers one of the most unique art experiences on property. Originally commissioned in 2008 by artist Lorna Samara Ash alongside six Miami based artists, the project was later expanded with alumni from Miami's New World School of the Arts. Today, the staircase spans from the basement to the sixth floor, with each artist transforming an individual floor into their own creative expression, ultimately blending into one continuous and harmonious piece of art.
Boutique Comfort Meets Artistic Inspiration
While art defines the spirit of The Sagamore, comfort defines the stay. The hotel offers 101 rooms, including two story bungalows and a spacious oceanfront penthouse, with some of the largest standard rooms found anywhere in South Beach. Each space blends modern comfort with decorative touches inspired by the Art Deco era, creating rooms that feel both elevated and effortlessly relaxed.
