At Pérez Art Museum Miami, Xican-a.o.x. Body (June 13, 2024 - Feb. 16, 2025) debuts as the first major exhibition to showcase works by Chicano artists (and artists who identify in myriad ways) who foreground the body as a site of political agency and imagination, artistic investigation, decolonization, and alternative forms of community. Also opening this summer at PAMM, Calida Rawles: Away with the Tides (June 27, 2024 - Jan. 12, 2025) envisions water as it signifies physical and spiritual Black healing (in particular of those people who live in Overtown, a historically black Miami neighborhood) by merging hyperrealism, poetic abstraction, and the cultural and historical symbolisms of water. This is Rawles first museum solo exhibition.
