Beat the Summer Heat at these Miami Destinations

Summer in Miami is synonymous with long, sunny days and hot weather. While outside swelters, stay cool indoors with some of our favorite things to do for those inescapable blistering days. Beat the summer heat at these Miami destinations.

Visit a Museum

This may be the obvious choice for when the weather isn’t quite up to par, but Miami is loaded with world-renowned museums that should be on your radar regardless of the heat. Don’t miss contemporary art collections at The Bass, The Wolfsonian, or The Sagamore. It’s just as hot outside as it is inside the World Erotic Art Museum, and we aren’t talking about the weather. The museum on Washington Avenue in South Beach boasts the world’s largest public view collection of erotic art, with thousands of fascinating, one-of-a-kind historical and contemporary pieces. On the other side of Biscayne Bay, Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), Institute of Contemporary Art, HistoryMiami, and the Frost Science museum are all excellent reasons to soak up the air conditioning.

Sample the Summer Cuisine

Stay cool at one of Miami’s hottest bars and restaurants. Overlook the water from one of the best waterfront eateries in the city and check out our favorite SoBe cocktail lounges for a frozen libation. Go on a sudsy tour of Miami’s best craft breweries with Miami Brew Bus. From the comfort of your air conditioned bus, get whisked to breweries in Wynwood, Little Havana, Doral, and more neighborhoods while enjoying behind-the-scenes tours and a complimentary pint or snifter at each stop. Want more unique dining options this summer? Check out our favorite artsy eateries.

Spend the Day at Lincoln Road Mall

The shopper’s paradise in Miami Beach may be an outdoor promenade, but there are plenty of places to browse indoors to escape the heat. From art galleries and independent boutiques to some of the top dining destinations in the neighborhood, our Lincoln Road guide will direct you to the best of the best on the historic street.

Get in the Water

Cool down at the beach just outside The Sagamore’s back door. We love visiting the miles of sandy white beach in the early morning or evening, when the crowds are at its smallest and the weather at its coolest. After some time on the shore, visit Sagamore’s palm-lined patio where you can rest in a lounge chair under the shade, order frosty cocktails from the pool bar, and take a dip in the zero-entry pool.

Catch a Flick at a Historic Miami Beach Theater

O Cinema brings the best in independent, foreign, and art films to South Florida inside the historic city hall. Built in 1927, the theater showcases thoughtful and engaging national and international films in European-inspired digs. The gallery, bookstore, library, café, and theater also serves wine to enhance the experience.

The Sagamore Hotel

If you just want to be in the sun, The Sagamore Hotel provides a variety of ways to stay cool while soaking up the heat. From a day at the pool to 24/7 exclusive access to our groundbreaking contemporary art collection, book your stay early for your biggest savings. Plan your summer getaway with Sagamore in the heart of South Beach, an iconic destination known for its unique collection of contemporary art, spacious suites, and prime location only steps from Lincoln Road Mall and the beach. Your Miami beach club experience awaits.
