Make your Independence Day a memorable one with a variety of patriotic activities everyone can enjoy.
Attend the Fire on the Fourth Festival
The annual beach extravaganza returns to North Miami Beach for a fun-filled day of live music, food trucks, fireworks, and more. Located at the North Beach Bandshell at the intersection of Collins Avenue and 73rd Street, the oceanfront hangout is the perfect spot to spend the day with family. The Kid Zone features a rock climbing wall, inflatable slide, face painting station, kid-friendly contests, arts and crafts, and bungee jumping. Adults can enjoy a 9 a.m. Nobe yoga class before indulging in classic 4th of July grub like hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled cheese, and ice cream. Bring a beach blanket to spread out on the sand and catch the fireworks over the Atlantic beginning at 9 p.m.
Getting to the Fire on the Fourth Festival is easy. Free shuttles operate between the 42nd Street garage (located at 41st Street and Royal Palm Avenue) and the North Beach Bandshell. Shuttles depart every 30 minutes from 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. Complimentary trolleys take riders around the North Beach Loop, Collins Link, Middle Beach Loop, and South Beach Loop until 12 a.m. The trolleys run continuously every 10 to 15 minutes.
Dine on Classic American Fare
Celebrate the 4th of July with all-American dishes that will leave you feeling patriotic. Visit the retro 11th Street Diner housed in a railroad-style car for 24/7 hours of yummy eats. Dine on buffalo wings, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, and over 20 specialty burgers to choose from. Big Pink on Collins Avenue is another Miami Beach institution serving up tasty comfort food. Enjoy creamy milkshakes, beer battered fish and chips, and skillet-baked mac and cheese.
Find the Red, White, and Blue Lifeguard Kiosk
Miami Beach refreshed its eclectic lifeguard stands for its centennial and added new designs to the mix. Of the 36 brightly-colored lifeguard stands that line the coast of Miami Beach from South Pointe Park up to 87th Street, the red, white, and blue stand is the perfect one to visit on the 4th of July. Take a walk along the coast to find the iconic stand and take advantage of the photo opportunity!
Watch the Fireworks over Ocean Drive
Grab a seat at a street-side café (News Cafe or A Fish Called Avalon are great spots!), find an open bench in the park, or pick a spot on the beach to watch the fireworks over Lummus Park. The free fireworks show begins at 9 p.m. between 5th and 15th Streets.
