ArtsLaunch Kicks off Miami’s Art Season With Art, Music, Dance, and Culinary Creations
Miami’s biggest free community art event returns to the Adrienne Arsht Center to set Miami’s art season in motion. ArtsLaunch is a full day of activities celebrating the performing arts and other arts disciplines through performances, interactive workshops, kids' activities, art talks, tours, and more. Here are the top things we are most looking forward to on September 7.
Art Experiences
Visit the Community Arts Village beginning at 11 a.m. to browse more than 100 booths presented by Miami’s cultural organizations. After a look around, go behind the scenes of the Adrienne Arsht Center with a tour of the Ziff Ballet Opera House and Knight Concert Hall. Tours begin every hour on the hour from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Explore beyond the Arsht with a Big Bus Cultural Excursion through Little Haiti and the historic Overtown neighborhood. The hop-on hop-off bus tour departs from ArtsLaunch at 12:00 p.m., 1:25 p.m., and 2:45 p.m.
Culinary Arts
Attend a Chef’s demonstration with Brad Kilgore at the Ziff Ballet Opera House’s onsite BRAVA restaurant at he prepares a delicious dish. Classes start at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Snack on local bites at Food Truck Alley, where Miami favorites Ms. Cheezious, Churromania, Moty's Grill, Papas Mix, and Lulu's Ice Cream will be set up until 2:30 p.m. Save room for Chef Allen’s farm-to-table dinner at The Café at Books & Books at the Adrienne Arsht Center. Enjoy a five-course, vegetarian meal served family-style at a shared communal table under the stars.
Live Performances
Listen to a full day of vocal harmony from local high school and college a cappella groups at A Cappella Corner. Preview Miami Symphony Orchestra’s 2019-20 season beginning at 12:30 p.m. The mini-performance is comprised of music by Beethoven, Vivaldi, Gershwin, Shostakovich, Stravinsky, Strauss, and more. Lastly, Hamilton fans unite at 2 p.m. for a collective sing-along. If you’re a fan of the hit Broadway show, or just want to sing out loud, lend your voice to this officially licensed ‘Hamiltunes’ sing-along.
Dance
From flamenco to ballet to hip-hop, ArtsLaunch has many interactive dance lessons for all ages to participate. For professional performances, attend the Siempre Flamenco performance at 1:30 p.m. or the Peter London Global Dance Company mini-performance at 3:30 p.m. to preview the iconic dance company’s electrifying 8th annual season.
