Here’s what you can start doing ahead of time to ensure smooth sailing at this year’s Art Basel Miami.

How Do You Get to Art Basel Miami?

Getting to Art Basel is a breeze when you book your South Beach stay with The Sagamore Hotel. The 0.4-mile walk to the Convention Center takes less than 10 minutes. From Miami’s original “Art Hotel,” head north on Collins Avenue, take a left on 17th Street, and a right on Washington Avenue. Ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft are available in Miami Beach and would typically cost around $5 to travel between The Sagamore and the Convention Center, but expect price surging given the magnitude of Art Basel.

What to Pack for Art Basel Miami Beach

Art Basel’s bag policies are strict, so make sure you keep your items confined to a bag no larger than 16" x 8" x 16" (no backpacks, suitcases, or trolleys allowed). Comfortable clothes and shoes are a must for all-day browsing. Outside snacks and drinks are prohibited (there will be food and beverage offerings on-site), and they’re stringent on camera requirements. Read the 2024 guidelines and code of conduct so you know all the rules and regulations enforced during Art Basel.

Special sectors include the popular Conversations (a series of panels featuring artists, gallerists, curators, collectors, architects, art lawyers, critics, and the like), Survey (art historical projects), Kabinett (a curated selection displayed by a gallery), Positions (a major project by a single artist), Nova (works created within the last three years), and Meridians (galleries present ambitious, large-scale works in a designated space).
