Miami Art Week Museum Special Exhibitions
Be sure to support your local museums during Art Week. Pérez Art Museum Miami has two anticipated exhibitions slated to open the first week of December: Perceptual Motion, an exploration of technological change, mass media, and the universality of moving images in contemporary art; and Gary Simmons: Public Enemy, the first comprehensive career survey of the work of the multidisciplinary Los Angeles-based artist, whose groundbreaking works have played a key role in situating questions of race, class, and gender identity at the center of contemporary art discourse.
In Miami Beach, The Bass is premiering four new exhibitions in time for Miami Art Week 2023: Hernan Bas: The Conceptualists, an exhibition of paintings from the Miami-based artist that explore conceptual art as a permissive realm for creative behavior and an inviting space for queerness; Anne Duk Hee Jordan: I Will Always Weather With You, a new large-scale multisensory exhibition from the Berlin-based artist that uses technology to examine the perseverance of life on Earth against the increasing challenges of climate change; Etel Adnan: Painting Into Space, a monumental wall mural set alongside additional works by the Lebanese-born artist; and Social Assembly: Welcome to the Museum, which invites you to rethink how we interact with and learn from art - and each other - with re-envisioned museum social spaces and activities that meld art, design and architecture.
