Here are some workout ideas to help you stay on track, build serious strength, or simply keep you moving without sacrificing serious beach time.

1. Miami Beach Yoga

Exercising on an unstable surface like sand strengthens the secondary muscles of the feet, hips, knees, and shoulder joints. 2. Miami Beach Run

It is believed that running on the sand expends one-and-a-half times more energy than running on a hard surface. As your muscles work overtime to maintain stability, you burn more calories in the process. At The Sagamore, the beach is our backyard, with nearly nine miles of unobstructed beachfront to get your jog on. Stick close to the edge of the water for the most support. 3. Miami Beach Surfing and Bodyboarding

Miami Beach is a surfer beginner’s playground. The smaller waves and level seafloor are the perfect place to practice getting up on a board for the first time. Begin your lesson on the shore with “surfer get-ups” by mimicking the motion surfers make when rising to a standing position. Start on the sand in a plank position and practice getting yourself upward quickly into a squatting position. When you’ve mastered the execution, it’s time to take to the waves with your board to work on your balance. The full body workout can improve your abs, lower body, and arm strength. Rent a board from a Miami surf shop or purchase a smaller bodyboard for an easier option that also improves cardiovascular health, muscular strength, and endurance.


4. Miami Beach Bike Ride

6. Miami Beach Salsa Dance Class

Enjoy the joyful experience of social dancing while getting to know Miami Beach’s Latin American culture. Head to the Gallery Room at The Sagamore every Monday night at 7 p.m. for a salsa dance class - all levels of experience welcome! Salsa mixes Afro-Cuban (cha-cha, mambo, pachanga, and rumba) and American (swing and tap) dance for a fast, fiery, and unforgettable experience.

7. Ballet Flow Pop-Up

Join Natalia Corder, Creative Director of Ballet Flow, in the Gallery Room at The Sagamore every Sunday (10:30 a.m.) and Wednesday (7 p.m.). Channel the dancer within with a 60-minute low impact, full body sculpting workout that will lift, tone, align, and burn from head to pointed toes.
